Janelle Monáe Has a New Video and a Release Date, Continues Being a Badass

Janelle_MonáeIt’s no secret that you’ll find me makin’ a fuss about Ms. Monáe quite often. Like over here. This time I’ll spare you and just deliver the news stuffs.

Monáe’s upcoming second full-length studio release, The Electric Lady, is set to be released September 10th. Mark your calenders, kids. Target is going to have a 4-song bonus, so if you pre-order or buy it from there – you will be gloriously rewarded. With….well, the four bonus tracks. Spotify is quickly transforming the world, but this is one disc I’m going to be sure to get off my ass and buy in a store. Yeah. You know? Those places where they have products on shelves and you go get the physical item and pay for it at a register. Yeah, that place.

Here’s some more info that I stole from somewhere (OK FINE, it was Wikipedia – guilty!):

Thematically, The Electric Lady will continue the utopian cyborg concepts of its predecessors, while presenting itself in more plainspoken, personal territory in addition to experimenting with genres beyond conventional funk and soul music genres such as jazz, pop punk and gospel, as well as woozy and sensual vocal ballads. The album will so far feature confirmed guest appearances by Prince and Miguel with production from previous collaborator Deep Cotton (a funk act) and Roman GianArthur (a soul music composer).

The second single has been released with a booty-shaking new video too. It’s called “Dance Apocalyptic” and features a super excellent ukelele. Is there anything else you need to know!? Probably not. Check it out below.

Lastly, Monáe continues being a badass. This concludes today’s news brief.

September 10!
