Kristen Bell: More Veronica Mars is ‘Going to Happen’

Veronica Mars

Marshmallows. Your commander has spoken. More Veronica Mars is “going to happen.”

Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas) cracked the case during a Facebook Live interview with IndieWire when he called Mars co-star Kristen Bell for comment.

Bell said: “Personally, and I think that Rob [Thomas, creator] probably agrees, (A) we’ll never make the fans pay for it again, (B) the format works better in an episodic, where you get a little more of it. So we want to do a miniseries. We are willing to put the effort in. I mean, if I have to do it as Murder, She Wrote at 80, we’re going to do it. It’s going to happen.”

For the record, and I want to be clear, I’m totally game for Murder, Veronica Wrote, but it would be cool if it happened sooner rather than later.

Hearing how dedicated Bell, Thomas and Hansen are to this series makes me even happier to be a supporter (and Kickstarter backer!). They did a fantastic job with the movie and the prospects of a miniseries leave me tickled.

Veronica Mars originally premiered in 2004 on the UPN/CW, starring Bell as the the titular heroine, a snarky high school student ejected from the popular crowd after her best friend is murdered and her sheriff father points the finger at the girl’s father. Veronica moonlights as a private investigator, assisting her decommissioned dad at their PI firm, Mars Investigations. The series was a witty, cutting-edge TV Noir that offered surprises every week as it worked toward solving huge mysteries. In 2014, seven years after its three-season run, an eponymous film was funded and produced through Kickstarter.

More Mars is fantastic news, but hey, Hansen…can you get Enrico Colantoni on the line next?
