The Firefly Music Festival has released its 2013 lineup for the upcoming second fest taking place June 21-23 at The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware. Here’s a screenshot of the full lineup as announced this morning:

*Update* Clearer shot of the lineup, released by Firefly.

And here’s the accompanying video:

More than likely, they’re keeping a headliner under their belts for some unknown reason (to be released on Thursday, when tix are on sale?). Tom Petty and the Chili Peppers seem to be older favorites. Perhaps a more modern/relevant headliner will be announced shortly?

New MGMT 'Congratulations' dropping this spring

Posted in Muzik on January 20th, 2010 by Nick

With blogosphere praise and two Grammy award nominations under their belt (Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocals), MGMT returns to the scene with their sophomore effort entitled, Congratulations.

The new album drops this spring and follows 2008′s Oracular Spectacular.

Singer Andrew Vanwyngarden told Spin: “It’s definitely going to shock people. We dropped any sort of irony that was on the first record, and Congratulations feels true to who we really are.”

Check out Spin’s interview with Vanwyngarden to find out his opinions on fame, the Grammys, and even Lady GaGa.

Can it beat the success of Oracular? Will they escape the pressure of the sophomore slump like Vampire Weekend [barely] did?

The Winslow certainly hopes so.

Weezer covers MGMT

Posted in Check It! on May 20th, 2009 by Nick

Nice. Really nice. It’s not perfect, but it’s still damn cool (they even throw in a bit of GaGa’s Poker Face at the end too…):

I love Weezer. And I love MGMT. But in no way does this mean I’ll pay to see Weezer play with Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy. Nooooo, thank you! Had to sit through Blink twice during the No Doubt/Blink shenanigans and it was not OK. I’m fairly certain I have some sort of ear damage from having to listen to that noise live. (And they didn’t even play anything off of Dude Ranch! WTF!? That’s like their only good album!).

Anyways – Weezer are recording a new album for a late fall, early 2010 release.
