It’s been awhile since our latest installment of Happening Sh*t and let me tell you, my friends: there is some happening sh*t happening. Some really important shit. Sometimes these posts come in handy when I forget to blog for a week or two or so, so they serve as wonderful catch-up digests of things I’m watching and listening to in my car or in dark alleyways or in crack houses…I MEAN…what?

Bob’s Burgers Makes a Video for Sleater-Kinney’s “A New Wave”

The show’s animators decided to have Sleater-Kinney play the song in the bedroom of their character Tina Belcher. See the animated Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss rock their animated hearts out. The song can be found on the band’s latest release, No Cities to Love. It’s a pretty bitchin’ collaboration, if you ask me (and I jump and dance exactly like Tina…weird).

Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck Gets a Trailer

Amy Schumer’s new movie Trainwreck looks like it’ll be the direct opposite of that. Since she was a little girl, it’s been drilled into (fictional) Amy’s head by her rascal of a dad that monogamy isn’t realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo – enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment – but in actuality, she’s kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she’s writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners, Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be on to something.

Directed by Judd Apatow and written by Schumer, the movie has an INSANE cast: Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton, Randall Park, LeBron James, and more all join Schumer for her first real foray into leading lady territory. It’ll hit theaters July 17th and I need to see it immediately, dammit.

Screaming Females Release Rose Mountain

The indie/punk darlings Screaming Females have released their sixth album Rose Mountain and the result is sexiness, squared, then multiplied by more numbers. (Personally, I like it better than 2012’s Ugly). Marisa Paternoster shreds. She kills it. Over and over, album after album. She’s one of the best new guitarists on the scene and has a trill that just can’t be replicated. If you like rock or punk, you must check out Screaming Females.
