It’s no surprise that feminist icon and punk powerhouse Kathleen Hanna is voting for Hillary Clinton. In a new song released today, the newly resurrected Le Tigre, the trio of Hanna, Johanna Fateman and JD Samson, have released “I’m With Her” – and, as the title clearly spells out, they’re HRC fans.
The Pro-Clinton anthem’s video was made by director Laura Parnes and producer Tanya Selvaratnam for Filmmakers for Hillary, “a coalition of creatives committed to electing Hillary Clinton as President of the United States,” whose “mission is to organize creativity and inspiration into persuasion and mobilization.”
The video features the band, Hillary, herself, and…cats. (Because the internet.) It’s all sorts of sassy and silly, but at the same time, dead fucking serious with rally and protest footage proudly displaying signs reading “Woman Power” and “Trust Women.”
And to think people get all riled up about Green Day getting political on American Idiot.
Le Tigre’s last album, This Island, bowed in 2004. In 2011, a documentary was released called Who Took the Bomp? Le Tigre on Tour, following the band on their international farewell tour in 2004–05. It took a racist, under-qualified douchebag to resurrect Le Tigre – but hey! At least The Donald accomplished something!
