Who doesn’t want to watch a black comedy horror movie about the demonic shadow of Santa Claus punishing and murdering non-believers? That sounds pretty fucking OK, if you ask me!
Director Michael Dougherty is at it again. In 2007, he created one of the most unique and beautifully constructed Halloween films called Trick ‘r Treat. If you haven’t seen it and are a horror/Halloween fan, you are doing yourself a serious disservice. Treat is now a must-watch in my household around this time of the year and it gets multiple, multiple viewings throughout. Dougherty excelled in combining everything that we love about the season, and twisting and contorting it into four amazing mini-stories all connected by one little pumpkin demon-kid named Sam. And Krampus may do for Christmas what his former film did for Halloween.
Starring Adam Scott, Toni Collette and David Koechner, Krampus tells the tale of a clashing, dysfunctional family over the holidays whose youngest, Max, turns his back on Santa and the holiday spirit, unleashing the wrath of the demon Krampus. Hell breaks loose, holiday icons turn into monsters, and the family must stick together to survive it all!
YES, YES AND YES. ALL OF IT. GIMME.
The trailer was released earlier this month, solidifying its spot as one of TLW’s most anticipated movies of the year.
But, no really. Watch Trick ‘r Treat immediately. Like right now. Seen it already? Watch it again, dammit.
Wait, wait, wait….come back! Watch this trailer first. Then go watch Trick ‘r Treat. Like…later.
