For 31 seasons and 912 episodes, Mr. Rogers delivered the following message, as spoken in the clip below: “Love is at the root of everything.” This world could certainly use some more of Mr. Rogers’ wisdom right about now.
Yesterday, on what would’ve been Rogers’ 90th birthday, Focus Features dropped the first official trailer for Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, a documentary about the Presbyterian minister (and sweater enthusiast) whose cherished show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood forever changed the landscape of children’s programming.
Directed by Oscar winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom), the film explores Rogers’ compassionate lessons about death, divorce, and caring for and accepting our neighbors.
“Children have very deep feelings, just the way everybody does,” says Rogers in the trailer.
Won’t You Be My Neighbor hits select theaters June 8. Watch the trailer below.
Yassss! More MR ROGERS!
