I’m not gonna lie – Mumford & Sons aren’t my favorite and I’ve been known to toss some grief their way from time to time (the whole new-found Americana/Folk frenzy they brought to the mainstream is pretty much Snoozeville, USA). Having said that, their new video for Babel‘s “Hopeless Wanderer” is a dripping ice cream cone on a hot summer day. Covered in your favorite candy ice cream topper. Or something like that.
Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, Ed Helms and Will Forte appear as the band Mumford, and they pluck, sing and play along with the song as if they were throwin’ their own dang hootenanny. Their over-exaggerated facial expressions and mock-playing is probably the best mock-music performance since Spinal Tap. Except those guys really play. And really sing. OK, so maybe it’s nothing like that whatsoever.
It’s also refreshing that the real Mumford & Sons are completely willing to satirize themselves in their own video – super cool brownie points, sirs.
The following video is definitely a recipe for viral status.
Pro tip: Keep your eyes glued on Helms.
Amazing.
