Music Monday: Palma Violets – ‘Best of Friends’

2012PalmaViolets180Press171212It’s Monday. Let there be music.

I’m really stuck on this English band called Palma Violets lately. They formed in 2011 in London as the music child of frontmen Samuel Fryer and Chilli Jesson. They’ve set a strong foundation in the Garage Rock category, but also have some psychedelic influences as well. As shit happens nowadays, the band released a single that exploded on the Internets; “Best of Friends” was voted NME’s song of the year last year. Their debut album, 180, wasn’t released until February of 2013, though, but it’s a stellar companion to the blog-worthy hit single.

The band is signed to Rough Trade and is currently touring with Miles Kane, Django Django and Peace.

“Best of Friends” is totally worth the buzz. It’s garagey and raw, yet still has that singalong chorus you want to scream with your friends after a few frothy beers. The combo sounds delicious to me:
