Even though their sophomore album dropped in 2012, I recently heard White Lung’s Sorry disc just last week and it’s everything you’d want in a Rock offering. The band is a four piece from Vancouver, influenced by riot grrrl, post-punk and hardcore punk. Their music falls somewhere in between all of those, with a nice dose of grunge mixed in as well.
The disc is 19 minutes long. It’s fast and loud, thrashing this way and that way, with singer Mish Way leading the band through battle with a resounding howl that would make Courtney Love and Corin Tucker proud. By the time the album’s 10 tracks have passed you by (blink and you’ll miss it), you’ll be spinning it again. And again.
Summer may be a great time for Classic Rock and Pop, but sometimes you just have to turn it up to 11.
Check out tunes.
Within the first few seconds of the first song, my only thought was, “TOO MUCH GUITAR.”
