Wild Belle consists of brother-sister combo Elliot and Natalie Bergman whose debut album was released in March by Columbia. Elliot, a multi-instrumentalist, started an Afrobeat band in college called Nomo. Natalie started performing with them shortly after, playing tambourine and singing backing vocals when she was just sixteen. The two eventually decided to branch off with their own project and chose the name Wild Belle.
Though they do have pop sensibilities, the band dives into ska, reggae, psychedelic pop, funk, jazz and more, making their album a unique fusion of worldly beats and indie pop. The album is called Isles – each song represents the feel of a different island.
What else? Oh, they destroy Vampire Weekend.
