Since 1987’s Appetite for Destruction, Slash has more than proven that he’s one of the greatest players to ever pick up an axe. In 2010, Slash took a break from his gig with Velvet Revolver to deliver his first solo effort jam-packed with guest vocalists like Ozzy, Myles Kennedy, Fergie, Lemmy, and more.
Made in Stoke is a powerful 3-disc collection of Slash on the road playing in his hometown of Stoke, England. With a brand new band behind him, including Kennedy on vocals, he tears through the solo tracks with ease, slapping on a healthy dose of catalogue tracks like “Rocket Queen,” “Patience,” “Slither,” and “Been There Lately.” No past or present project is left unturned.
For fans of any Slash outing, this live offering is definitely worth sinking your teeth into. The first two discs showcase the entire 21-song set, while the third is a 45-minute-plus DVD of concert footage interspersed with interview clips. The audio is stellar, with heavy attention obviously paid to Slash’s shredding in the mix. The only downside: Why isn’t the entire performance on the DVD? Despite this misstep, get stoked for Stoke. It’s one rad collection of some of the greatest rock tracks of the last few decades.
