When I first saw Sofi Tukker—a New York City-based duo whose dance music and live performance feel tribal, with nods toward Brazilian instruments, poets and Portuguese—it was one of the weirdest sets I’d seen of late. It was the kind of show that you watched with your mouth slightly open, one that made you tilt your head to the side and mutter, “Huh,” to yourself.
Opening for Miike Snow at the time, the duo played a bit of guitar and some banging percussion; they pranced and jumped around stage along to some deep driving bass, programmed synths, cowbells and bongos. It was a super clubby, foreign-leaning dog and pony show. Weird af, but unique, to say the least.
While I wasn’t totally sold that night, their latest single has me rethinking this whole Sofi Tukker thing. “Fuck They” is a banger. It’s got a killer beat, a great message, and some powerful crescendos and beat drops. It’s accessible jungle pop that spans across multiple genres.
The band posted on YouTube: “‘They’ is anything that holds you back from being who you are. Whoever ‘they’ is in your life, in your mind, Fuck They! Who’s they anyway?”
“Fuck They” is perfect if you’re planning a rave, an all-nighter or if you live in a drug den. I mean, hopefully you don’t live in a drug den, but if you do, I would just like to recommend this song.

“Fuck They” has been added to The Littlest Winslow Playlist over on Spotify. Follow it for weekly updates and new jams. Or don’t. Whatever, man.
I love the styling on this photo.
