It’s true – Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington is now the new lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots after Scott Weiland’s 1,100th firing last February. Dean DeLeo confirmed this odd news by saying:
“Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time. We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together. We managed to find the time to record a song and we’re all really happy with the result.”
That new song is called “Out of Time”:
I know what you’re thinking. Go ahead and pretend you’ve never liked Linkin Park. Not even once in your lifetime. Talk shit about Bennington. I can only imagine what the reaction to this might be. I”ll be one of the first to call bullshit though. Hybrid Theory and Meteora were both really solid albums, and I’ll even go on record as liking Minutes to Midnight quite a bit. Bennington’s vocals are undeniably strong and based on this new track, he seems to fit right in with the STP framework.
