Stop What You’re Doing: There’s a New ‘Adele’ Single

Hello.

No, that’s what it’s called. “Hello.”

I want to be over Adele, sometimes. I really do. But I just can’t quit her. On one hand, her songs are always slow and mopey, and I’m rarely in the mood for sullen gloom (and when I am – Fiona Apple – DUH.) Then, you add the overexposure that “Rolling in the Deep” amassed and it just feels like the world is beating a horse. One that is not dead, but definitely divulged. She’s no longer the adorable 19 year old who spent her late teens chasing pavements, chasing dreams.

But then you hear that voice, and time and time again, Adele proves she’s got more burrowed deep inside her Goddess-like, booming vocal chords. And I always go running right back, all:

Her third album, 25, is out November 20th and will almost definitely top your “Best of 2015” lists. Greg Kurstin co-wrote this tune and produced most of the album – major bonus. Here’s the video for the new single with lyrics below that.

“Hello”

Hello, it’s me, I was wondering
If after all these years you’d like to meet to go over everything
They say that time’s supposed to heal, yeah
But I ain’t done much healing

Hello, can you hear me?
I’m in California dreaming about who we used to be
When we were younger and free
I’ve forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet

There’s such a difference between us
And a million miles

Hello from the other side
I must’ve called a thousand times
To tell you I’m sorry, for everything that I’ve done
But when I call you never seem to be home

Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I’ve tried
To tell you I’m sorry, for breaking your heart
But it don’t matter, it clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore

Hello, how are you?
It’s so typical of me to talk about myself, I’m sorry
I hope that you’re well
Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happened?

It’s no secret
That the both of us are running out of time

So hello from the other side
I must’ve called a thousand times
To tell you I’m sorry, for everything that I’ve done
But when I call you never seem to be home

Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I’ve tried
To tell you I’m sorry, for breaking your heart
But it don’t matter, it clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore

Ooh, anymore
Ooh, anymore
Ooh, anymore
Anymore…

Damn, gurl. Ownage. We’re definitely not worthy.
