Summer is kind of winding down already…at least the summer movie season that is. Potter was disappointing, Bruno wasn’t as good as Borat, and Transformers 2 should be used as an equivalent of Japanese water torture. Although many of the movies I checked out were a tad disappointing (WHY DIDN’T YOU SEE ‘DRAG ME TO HELL YET’!?), there are still a few I’ve got my eye on.
1) (500) Days of Summer
I know, I know! There’s actually a Romantic Comedy I want to see! And I won’t even be dragged to it, I’ll probably be the drag-er! But seriously, who can turn down the charm of Zooey Deschanel in anything? Fox Searchlight seems to be at it again with a slightly quirky, yet way more realistic (read: non-Hollywood) version of a relationship being told from start to finish. Kind of. The film portrays the days of said relationship completely out of order, and all jumbled up-like. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the guy who falls for Deschanel’s Summer and I’ll play the guy in the audience crushing on Zooey the entire time. And I’m OK with that.

2) The Collector
Pros: Trailer looks wicked cool. Cons: It’s from the writers of Saw 4 and 5, and the Saw movies seriously suck now. Also Con: This movie has potential suck factor, because let’s face it – it’s a horror movie. Originally penned to be a prequel for the Saw movies, producers and the studio shut that idea down and are presenting the tale as a stand alone new film. The tale: A burgular enters a home ready to jack some shit and finds a madman already inside with the family held hostage. This can go either way, but that damn trailer is intriguing me!
Three different vids of the trailer won’t embed. It’s getting annoying. Click here to check it out.
3. Inglourious Basterds
Why do I need to convince anybody to go see a Tarantino movie. If you don’t like Tarantino, you’re stupid. Go see it, dammit.
Ok, hold on…come back. I guess I can kiiind of see why some people dislike QT, but the man is original. I love his writing, I love his dialogue. I love the way he handles action sequences, and how he pays homage to genres past. Ok…nevermind. If you don’t like him, you’re still stupid.

Other interesting releases:
–Halloween 2, directed by Rob Zombie. Remember when Zombie promised he wouldn’t make a sequel, and then he did? Sellout. I wish they’d just continue the original story instead of remaking every movie..
–G.I. Joe, except you couldn’t possible pay me enough to sit through that bullshit.
–The Final Destination continues that franchise. They’re fun movies. I may be pursuaded to check it out, especially since its in 3-D, but it’s clearly not too high on the to-do list.
So what’d I forget? What movies beg for a viewing? Hit up the comments, yo.
I’m looking forward to Funny People!
ooooh, totally. Forgot about that one, but I totally want to check it out!
